Beer Review: Epic The Observer Timeless Ale

IMG_0037_crop

“Beer does not make itself properly by itself. It takes an element of mystery and of things that no one can understand.” – Fritz Maytag

If a beer fridge is empty, is it still a beer fridge? Who watches the watchers? These are the questions that the The Observer brings to mind. This beer is probably more suited to a cold winters night, but at the same time that may as well be a summers evening sometimes in New Zealand. When is winter summer and summer winter? See? There I go again.

The initial nose of this beer is raisins and booze, almost like a Belgian Dubbel. This nose continues on into the taste of the beer where some thick fruity flavors also come out. The finish leaves a  sweet and smooth malty fruity flavor. Nice and strong, this beer could be considered a Dubbel. Either way, a great ale.

Each bottle is numbered, the one in the picture is No. 0526. The bottle as usual is pretty cool. Shiny silver writing against a holographic-star background. I just can’t help feel that those silver helicopters on the bottle should be black…

This beer goes well with watching Fringe or X-Files, or for exploring theoretical physics.
