Beer Review: Duvel Tripel Hop 2014

IMG_0081_cropEach year Duvel offer a new type of Tripel Hop for us to enjoy. Three different hops are selected and each year the third one is changed. The 2014 edition is dryhopped with Mosaic. Now its 2016 I thought it may be time to raid the stockpile of these little gems in the fridge.

Well as you may expect, this beer is full of hops. The nose is hoppy, the taste is very hoppy, the finish is good and sharp with hops, ending with a good aftertaste of hops. The nose has hints of malts and particularly citrus, which is where those Moasic hops come through.

Not for the feint of heart when it comes to hops, but still quite easy drinking, too easy drinking you might say as the flavors mask the 9.5% ABU. Great on a hot summers day, I’ll have to try and get my hands on the 2015 edition.

  1. The triple hop series by Duvel have been consistently great, although, I think they have gone down a notch each year from 2013. The 2013 hopped with Sorachi Ace was amazing, followed by the 2014 Mosaic and finally the 2015 Equinox. Good review.
