Beer Review: Brothers Beer Tropical

IMG_0225_cropBrothers Beer are now bottling, which is pretty exciting. I was lucky enough to be given one early to take home with me, and what else was I going to do with it but give it a review. There are currently  eight different styles being bottled and they will be starting to appear around the place from here on out. The bottles are short and curved, similar to the Duvel bottles. The labels mimic the look of a record and fit the vibe of the Brothers Beer bars. Also they have branded bottle caps which is always a nice touch, as not everyone does these days, if you are into that kind of thing.

I obtained a Tropical to taste. The nose is rich with pineapple and general tropical flavors, one in particular that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. The taste was slightly bitter with hops and that tropical flavor again, which carried on into the finish. As far as Golden ales go, this one has a decent amount of flavor to it. It was crisp, but not too crisp, it walks the line of being too light with not enough flavor and too strong with too much flavor for the style well.

Between the tap form of this beer and the bottle, I have to say that the flavor in the bottled version seemed richer in flavor. The overall style of a Golden ale isn’t my favorite beer style, but the flavoring in this was stronger than usual and hoppy, which suits me just fine. Personally, I am just excited that I can now enjoy a Brothers Beer at home.
