This is one of the great IPAs, against which all other IPAs can be compared. Epic have had this around for a few years now and it still holds up as well as the day it was released. Before I get onto the beer itself, a note has to be made about the bottle. It glows in the freakin’ dark, which is pretty damn cool. Also Epic have released a range of stuff around this beer, glasses, t-shirts, even a hot sauce with Culley’s (which is also pretty good). Now, on to the beer.
Throughout this beer it is straight up hops, in the nose, taste, and finish. The nose is full of different aromas, mainly around the tropical fruits such as mango, pineapple, and guava. The taste is thick and sweet, and the finish is smooth and sweet. This beer only has an IBU of 90 meaning that while it is high on the hops, it is not bitter by any means, making it a little too easy to drink.
Overall this is a great beer. The flavors are full, with a decent nose and a strong hop presence throughout. The sweetness in the beer gives it a nice element that differentiates it from bitter IPAs. The slogan on the bottle “need… more… hops…” is accurate, because I need more of this beer.
