Beer Review: Epic Thunder

IMG_0338_cropOriginally released on tap Epic have brought the Thunder to bottles, which are now available around the place. Part of the Stone Hammer series, this beer is an American Pale Ale. Given the weather we have been having recently, I can’t think of a more appropriately named beer to have at the moment. Just a quick note on the bottle, the label has a cool metallic shine to it which adds to the theme of the beer. Also Thor’s hammer Mjolnir is in the shield above the Epic logo. Now, on to the beer itself.

The second you crack the bottle a strong smell of tropical and citrus hits you, that should give you a pretty good idea what the rest of the beer is going to be like. The taste is rich with bitter hops and again with the citrus and tropical notes. There is also that slightly creamy nature to the taste that is usually found in APAs. The end long lasting with a rich bitter finish.

Rich in hoppy goodness, which Epic have always done well, this beer reminds me a lot of the Epic Hop Zombie or the Armageddon. Overall it is a fairly decent APA, more easy drinking than some of Epic’s other beers I just mentioned. I was looking forward to trying the Thunder, and I wasn’t disappointed. Just to add to the epic nature of this Epic beer, at the bottom of the page is a video which I think fits this beer quite nicely. Enjoy!
